2023 China Optics Top Ten Progress Summit Forum and award ceremony held in Fuyang. It has been successfully held for 17 years, aiming to promote the wide dissemination of excellent optical research results in China and promote the development of Chinese optics. Cui Tiejun, chairman of the forum and academician of Southeast University, said in his speech that for many years, it has been a difficult problem to objectively evaluate the output of optical researchers, and the selection of the top 10 progress in Chinese optics has given its own answer. As a credible and influential academic exchange platform derived from this, China Optics Top Ten Progress Forum is expected to fully share academic achievements and seek common industrial development.

At the opening ceremony, Xie extended warm congratulations on the opening of the forum. He said that Fuyang is a modern industrial city connected with "light". After years of development, it has formed a photoelectric communication industry cluster mainly focusing on optical fibers, optical cables, cables and optical devices. The output of optical cables and cables accounted for nearly a quarter of the national total at its peak. In 2019, Shanghai Institute of Optics and Machinery of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Fuyang District government jointly established Hangzhou Institute of Optics and Machinery. Over the past three years, Hangzhou Optical Machinery Institute has focused on the development of optical industry, brought together a group of international top talents such as Philip Russell's team, incubated a number of high-end and advanced industrial projects such as Fujia Gallium Industry, Core Technology, Hengying, etc., won the honor of Zhejiang new research and development Institute and Hangzhou first proof of Concept Center, established the provincial and municipal scientific innovation model, and become the golden brand of Fuyang optical industry development.

Xie Jiansheng said that the 2023 China Optics Top Ten Progress Summit Forum and award ceremony was held in Fuyang, gathering the top experts and scholars in the optical field of the country and even the world, which is of great significance to the transformation and development of Fuyang photoelectric communication industry and Fuyang to build "Zhejiang Optics Valley". At present, Fuyang is steadfastly implementing the main strategy of industrial powerhouse. We hope that Hangzhou Photonics Institute can take this forum as an opportunity to give better play to the professional "IP" effect in the field of photoelectric laser, attract more high-level R&D teams, platforms and projects to settle in, and build photoelectric laser industry chain.

The forum will last for three days, and will have academic discussions in 6 major fields: optical physics, optical materials and structures, light source, optical technology, applied optics and photonics. Last night, China Laser Magazine also released the "Top 10 Advances in Optics in China 2022", unveiling 40 achievements from basic and applied research.
